The holidays are here again in Peoria and boy do we know how to celebrate! With events going on all around town, here are a few celebrations that will help you find the holiday spirit.

Kwanzaa Display

Kwanzaa Display

    • Luthy Botanical Garden


    • When: 12/26-12/31 (Closed Mondays) 10:00 am to 5:00 pm


  • Price: Free but donations are always welcome.

This event offers a fun way to learn about the history of celebrating Kwanzaa! There is a delightful display of African plants that you can check out while learning about this African American holiday that celebrates community, family, and culture.

Festival of Lights East Peoria Folepi’s Winter Wonderland

    • 123 Par 3 Lane


    • When: 11/27 – 12/31 Sunday-Thursday 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday & Saturday 5:00 pm -11:00 pm


  • Price: $10 a vehicle, buses are $150

While the Parade of Lights happens before Thanksgiving, you can still experience the awesomeness of the displays at Folepi’s Winter Wonderland. This drive-through electric park is awe-inspiring and is different every year.

Get Lit New Year’s Eve Fun Run

    • Par Three Lane off Springfield Road


  • When: 12/31 at 11:50 pm
  • Price:
      • $5 per person for Get Lit only
      • $15 per person for Get Lit and pizza party
      • $25 per person for Get Lit and hoodie sweatshirt
      • (sizes small through XXL; must register by Dec. 20, 2014 to get shirt)
    • $30 per person for Get Lit, hoodie sweatshirt
      • (see details above) and pizza party

If you are looking to start your New Year’s resolutions for a healthier new you then the fun run at Folepi’s Winter Wonderland is for you. Open to adults and children alike, you can run or walk through the two-mile drive-through lights display. Make sure to register soon because there is a 400-person limit.

New Year’s Eve Howlin’ on Water Dueling Pianos

  • Price: $85

For those who are 21 and over, the party at Howlin’ on Water is the place to be. There will be a buffet dinner that will include Kahlua pulled pork, Waterhouse chicken, smashed potatoes, and more, along with an open bar all night, a funny dueling piano show and a champagne toast at Midnight. This will jump start your 2015 with a bang!
