The birds are chirping, the snow is melting, and the sun is peaking its way through – spring is here! Since we have been cooped up in our homes all winter, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite places to visit and things to do in springtime in Peoria.
After this long winter, have fun with the whole family at the Peoria Zoo. Constantly updating its exhibits every year, the zoo has plenty to see. There is a new Africa section, which features Colobus monkeys, lions, and more.
Spirit of Peoria
Board an authentic paddlewheeler and take a cruise down the Mississippi River. One of the only riverboats in the United States that hosts overnight guests, you can enjoy authentic storytelling, banjo playing, and ragtime piano.
Enjoy a game of America’s pastime at Dozer Park, formerly O’Brien Field, home to the Peoria Chiefs. Many fans have said there are no bad seats in the house and at reasonable prices, you can enjoy the entire baseball season live.
Forest Park Nature Center
Nothing will help you dive into spring quite like the gorgeous foliage in the Forest Park Nature Center and Preserve. There are over 500 acres for you to explore and seven miles of hiking trails.
Luthy Botanical Garden
A favorite destination for weddings, the botanical gardens are just awe inspiring. You first enter through the Tropical Conservatory, which is full of tropical plants. You can then spend hours wandering through the 15 different themed gardens.
World on Wheels
Take a ride along the Peoria RiverFront in style on Segways. During this guided tour, that will take you to great photo ops so you can capture the true beauty of Peoria. This is great for corporate events too.
Now get out there and start enjoying the sunshine and fresh breezes of spring in Peoria!
